Experiment #3

Document Actions

The results

The 4 lb 10 oz metal bucket was filled with ~18 lbs of wood, metal lid without gasket loosely attached.

In a cold drizzle of rain the bucked was heated for ~2 hours before pyrolysis products started to burn.

The gases burned for ~1 hour.

The resulting charcoal weighed 4 lbs, 2 oz.

This is my best result so far. The open fire was not an efficient heater, my guess 50 - 100 lbs of wood used. The charaoal yield was better than I expected.
